About the PROTECT SRHR Project

The PROTECT SRHR Consortium brings together six recognised leading organizations in their field to deliver a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Education project in Uganda with the overarching objectives to reduce teen pregnancies and increase teenage girls’ retention in schools.

Context of the Assignment

Persons with disabilities have the same rights to the highest attainable standard of healthcare and SRH and in making their own choices about sexuality and sexual health.

This right to healthcare is enshrined in international laws through human rights treaties, and in domestic legal frameworks including national constitutions. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), the international human rights treaty on disability, adopted or ratified by 184 countries since 2006, affirms that “States Parties recognize that persons with disabilities have the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health without discrimination on the basis of disability”.

Assignment and Mode of Work

Objectives and Expected Deliverables

Objectives of the assignment: Design and produce a culturally appropriate photo bank featuring real people, with specific attention to representing persons with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities, to be used as visual communication support during SRHR counselling, Family Planning (FP) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services, as well as in school-based activities.

Requirements

  • Five (5) full days of photographic fieldwork in Kampala and West Nile districts
  • Approximately 100 high-quality photographs
  • Close collaboration with HI, project partners, and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs)
  • High-quality digital formats suitable for multiple uses

Scope of Work

  • Preparatory phase: consultations and planning
  • Production phase: photography fieldwork
  • Final phase: editing and delivery of final photo bank

Eligibility & Selection

Expertise Required

  • Professional photography experience, preferably in humanitarian/development contexts
  • Understanding of disability inclusion
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience in Ugandan contexts
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
