About UNOC
Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
Job Summary
Establish organizational processes, selling, marketing, and supply chain development, stakeholder linkages, customer and client relations, operational systems, and secure licensing & permits for the development, implementation, and growth of the specialties products trading business, in collaboration with other teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct market surveys and carry out supply and demand analyses to inform optimal sourcing and stocking of specialties petroleum products.
- Prepare and implement a supply plan for specialties petroleum products to sustainably meet the chosen/targeted market demand.
- Develop and implement the approved Customer Portfolio Management plan to support the sustainable roll out, development, and growth of the Specialties Products Trading Business.
- Develop and implement approved Specialties Products Trading processes and procedures in line with the level of business being implemented and in compliance with related regulatory guidelines.
- Develop a pricing strategy for the trading of specialties petroleum products to deliver the annual business targets.
- Develop and implement marketing strategies including promotions and new specialities products’ development initiative.
- Monitor trends in specialties petroleum products’ specifications, technology, industry performance and market requirements and implement approved initiatives to keep pace with the trends for the sustainability of the business.
- Identify and coordinate regional and local logistics processes for the efficient supply and distribution of specialties petroleum products, in liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a Quality, Health, Social, Security, Safety and Environment (QHSSE) system, in liaison with QHSSE team members and relevant service providers.
- Identify, lead the engagement with, and sign-up potential customers for the Specialties Products Trading business in line with approved Business Cases, prevailing business mandate and in coordination with related stakeholders.
- Develop the required appropriate technical input to support the negotiations with potential business and financing partners and for routine updates on business implementation to shareholders, enabling legislators, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement the annual Specialties Petroleum Products stakeholders’ management plan to achieve the desired business goals and secure stakeholder buy- in.
- Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor(s).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related area of study from an internationally recognised University.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Statistics, Marketing or a related technical field.
- At least eight (8) years of relevant experience preferably in downstream petroleum sector business with a reputable organisation, four (4) of which should have been attained at a supervisory/team lead level.
- Proven sales/marketing experience in Business-to-business or retail business in the downstream petroleum sector is an added advantage.
- Proven track record in implementing Sales & Marketing initiatives.
