KCB Bank Uganda which is part of KCB Group, East Africa's largest commercial
bank that was established in 1896. Over the years, the Bank has grown and
spread its wings into Tanzania, South Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi
completing the East African circuit in the year 2012. Today, the Group has the
largest branch network in the region with over 238 branches, 950 ATMs and
8,000 agents offering banking services on a 24/7 basis in East Africa. KCB
Bank Uganda was established in the year 2007 and has grown to become one of
Uganda's top ten commercial banks. Currently KCB Bank Uganda has 14 branches
complemented with 16 ATMs spread on Kampala Road, Commercial Plaza, Ben
Kiwanuka, Luwum Street, Oasis Mall Sixth Street, Arua, Elgon Masaba, Fort
Portal, Gulu, Hoima, Lira, Mbarara and Jinja that offer trade financing,
corporate and retail banking services to customers.
Job Summary ⇒ Reporting to the Senior Manager Systems Architect, the IT
Application Developer shall build and customize applications, systems and
interfaces to support the bank’s digital platform, internal processes and
other business units. The developer will interact with third party service
providers as well as other internal digital financial services units. The
holder must demonstrate a strong understanding of and high regard for web
services/ API integrations to facilitate business delivery channels for both
bank corporate and retail customers such as online banking, digital banking
solutions and agency banking services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
⇗ Contribute application development initiatives to the overall IT & Bank
digital strategy.
⇗ Developing designated software solutions within the Bank to ensure that the
software needs are met within the agreed timelines.
⇗ Documenting system developments in accordance to the application
development policy.
⇗ Defining designated business functional and technical requirements that
would guide procurement of various software needed by the Bank.
⇗ Customizing and implementing acquired software to enable automated
functionality.
⇗ Specifying and ensuring application controls are incorporated during design
of the software in order to check on risk exposure.
⇗ Defining and testing the software or systems after development to ensure
that the set functional and security parameters are in place.
⇗ Build interfaces between systems.
⇗ Drive and deliver on the team goals and objectives by offering effective
participation.
⇗ Defining and reviewing test strategy and an operational test plan
methodology.
⇗ React quickly to application development related security incidents to
regain customer confidence.
⇗ Develop applications and interfaces
⇗ Expands knowledge and capabilities to continually add value and progress
within the Bank Digital Financial Services team.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The ideal candidate must hold a University degree in Computer Science from
a recognized and reputable institution or any computer related Degree.
⇗ Professional Qualification in Java certification, Oracle Certification,
Enterprise Architecture, ITIL.
⇗ Master’s Degree in any computer related, project management is an added
advantage.
⇗ At least 3 years’ experience in IT Banking systems, IT Projects, Banking
Operations, Quality Assurance, Emerging Technologies e.g. Mobile, Internet
Banking
⇗ Excellent knowledge of at least two programming languages
⇗ Experience of Development in a cross-platform, multi-tier environment with
a bias in System Integration with Telcos, Mobile Money Systems and ecommerce
APIs e.g. Pay pal, Master Card Visa among others
⇗ Application development experience using any of the following technologies
⇗ Java 1.8+, Spring Framework, Apache Camel, Spring Boot, Restful Services
JAX-RS, REST and SOAP API, Java Testing Frameworks JUnit, Mockito, Power
Mockito, Microservices, JPA/JDBI, Open shift.
⇗ A good understanding of Cloud infrastructure.
⇗ Able to work with a variety of customers and collaborate with technical
teams.
⇗ Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment.
⇗ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
⇗ Excellent planning, organization, problem-solving and analytical skills.
⇗ Working experience in Web, Mobile or POS application development & have
demonstrable record of accomplishment in development of digital products and
solutions.
