About US
UBOS is a semi-autonomous agency of Government responsible for maintenance, coordination, supervising and monitoring of the National Statistical System to ensure the collection, analysis and dissemination of standardised statistical information. The Bureau is also mandated as the principal official statistics producing agency in the country.
 
Job Summary  The Head of Department, Digital Solutions will develop Digital Solutions to enhance the performance of the Bureau. The job holder will ensure optimal functioning of IT infrastructure, UBOS web pages, disaster recovery &IT business continuity systems, up to date systems and developed data science systems.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Take lead in digital planning & transformation of the Bureau by collaborating with developers of mobile IT applications.
Prioritize software development projects, run functionality testing’s and debug/review code for various applications
Create wireframes to decide on layout of systems and provide leadership for end-to-end data delivery digital projects
Identify user and system requirements for new websites and applications and build mobile-responsive websites
Document and manage all IT infrastructure in the Bureau and maintain a digital IT inventory management systems.
Troubleshoot data-related problems and Research solutions and make recommendations for the improvement of digital systems for UBOS and entire NSS.
Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses
Ensure high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data and minimize database downtime
Administration of the Department and Human Resource management


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate must hold a Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer/software Engineering,
IT Industry Certifications with a bias to software development / engineering, such as. Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer, Certified Software Development Professional
Post graduate training in Management or Business related field is an added advantage.
