About US ⇒
Yalelo U Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in
2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake
Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch
company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave
Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in
2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and
among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary ⇒ The Primary Processing Manager will lead the development,
execution and monitoring of the Primary Processing department in line with the
overall operational objectives to achieve the first stages of processing for
Yalelo Uganda. As the Primary Processing Manager, you will be responsible for
the receiving of fish from the Harvest Department and conducting the first
stage of the processing of the fish. This will include getting the product
down to suitable cold chain temperature, weighing and counting the product,
grading and sorting, packaging and storage, freezing and chilling and then
close liaison with the Dispatch Team for distribution of fresh whole round
fish to points of sale across Uganda, and future export markets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Help employees understand the company Policies.
⇗ Ensure daily staff attendance, shift schedules and all leaves taken are
updated in a timely manner.
⇗ Liaise with Employee Relations Manager to cross check attendance reports,
where need be rectifying and handling absenteeism cases.
⇗ Ensure staff overtime data is compiled and submitted to Employee Relations
Manager payment.
⇗ Conduct routine manpower Site checks to ensure all staff comply with
established policies and procedures, following up and resolving of issues at
Site.
⇗ Ensure all employees adhere and comply with PPE Personnel Protective
Equipment requirements.
⇗ Receive employees’ leave applications, updating same and making a follow
up.
⇗ Advise and help the Line Managers on human resource related issues and to
deal with employees at Site.
⇗ Attend to minor disciplinary issues, help in enforcing discipline among
employees and generating incident and accident reports to be submitted to
Employee Relations Manager.
⇗ Performing any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management,
Organizational Psychology; Management Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work
and Social Administration and other related disciplines
⇗ A post graduate diploma or Masters in Human Resource Management is an added
advantage
⇗ Two and above years of experience in Human Resource section.
⇗ Knowledge of existing labour laws and attitudinal/employee engagement
surveys
⇗ Knowledge of all HR cycle functions
⇗ Integrity, flexible, good interpersonal skills, effective communication,
problem solving, counseling and decision making skills. Should have a positive
attitude, self-driven, result focused, creative, innovative, can work for long
hours and under pressure with minimum supervision
