largest branch network in the region with over 238 branches, 950 ATMs and
8,000 agents offering banking services on a 24/7 basis in East Africa. KCB
Bank Uganda was established in the year 2007 and has grown to become one of
Uganda's top ten commercial banks. Currently KCB Bank Uganda has 14 branches
complemented with 16 ATMs spread on Kampala Road, Commercial Plaza, Ben
Kiwanuka, Luwum Street, Oasis Mall Sixth Street, Arua, Elgon Masaba, Fort
Portal, Gulu, Hoima, Lira, Mbarara and Jinja that offer trade financing,
corporate and retail banking services to customers.
Job Summary ⇒ The Senior Manager –Systems Architect should demonstrate
proficiency in Solutions Architecture, Innovation, digital products
development through the design of business solutions, service-oriented
solutions, related infrastructure and Project Management. The role holder
will be considered an expert requiring a solid understanding of the service
oriented design paradigm including all related design principles, patterns,
tools and the effects of their application to deliver a solid, robust and
modular ecosystem of integration platforms.
The job holder will be required to drive Innovation to support the digital
agenda of KCB Bank Uganda towards a modern digitised bank with leadership in
operational excellence and customer experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
⇗ Lead the identification and development of innovative and emerging
technologies with unwavering passion for delivering innovative, new products
across all business functions. You will relentlessly and successfully drive
the R&D function solving real consumer Internal & External needs with a
focus on both the short-term and long-term product roadmap.
⇗ Lead in business requirements elicitation and analysis, support business in
developing of business cases and Customer journeys for digital solutions &
integrations.
⇗ Interface between IT and Business teams to collate, analyze and review
business requirements for system changes requiring developments, new system
acquisition and solutions. Works hand in hand with the Project Management
Office to deliver strategic projects.
⇗ Create and Review Technical Architecture Documents for system changes and
new systems and solutions.
⇗ Work with Group Enterprise Architecture to Implement architecture
principles and development standards within Uganda.
⇗ Recommend Security Standards and minimum-security requirements and their
incorporation in delivered solutions and systems.
⇗ Having understood the banks environment, provide and recommend design
Patterns and guide their application and use in delivering integration
solutions in the bank.
⇗ Review the existing integration framework for feasibility of reusing it for
future solutions.
⇗ Review the existing ESB landscape and provide a plan for closure of any new
or existing and known issues.
⇗ Participate and guide on the non-functional tests planning and execution
i.e. performance and load tests, security tests and high availability and fail
over testing.
⇗ Lead the IT Change Management process and coordination of all Change
Advisory Board CAB activities for Uganda changes.
⇗ Work in close liaison with the business teams to manage the successful
delivery and implementation of all technology projects.
⇗ Project design, implementation, testing SIT, UAT and PIR.
⇗ Provide leadership to the Digital Channels Support Team, Applications & IT
Service delivery unit in the IT department to ensure excellent service to the
customers both internal and external.
⇗ Provide governance on support of the existing digital channels to ensure
timely defect resolution, adherence to readiness procedures, and escalation of
system issues as appropriately.
⇗ Work closely with IT Risk and Security to ensure that the alternative
banking channels, developed solutions are designed, implemented and operated
in a robust and well secured environment.
⇗ Roll out of business solutions, ensuring that they are well tested and are
rolled out in a manner that does not adversely affect business processes, and
providing processes and training to the users.
⇗ Develop, test & maintain comprehensive data archiving & recovery procedures
for all computing environments in liaison with system administrators to ensure
that a timely and well-organized recovery is made back to acceptable levels of
service.
⇗ Periodic review of available and new technologies in line with best
industry practice to support business growth.
⇗ Provide technical support for the bank’s digital channels including ATMs,
mobile banking, internet banking and agency banking systems.
⇗ Build and develop fintech relationships and develop strategic partnerships
with those who share our goal of continuous innovation and breakthrough
thinking. The ability to lead and inspire fintech teams that bring
products/services to market faster than our competition is critical. Your
passion will show in both the product innovation and in the consumer
experience.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The ideal candidate for the KCB Bank Senior Manager, Systems Architect job
placement must hold a University degree in Computer Science, Information
Technology, Software Engineering from a recognized and reputable institution.
⇗ Professional Qualification in software development, Architecture
Certifications like TOGAF is and added advantage.
⇗ Hands on experience in SOA architecture development, services governance,
⇗ Hands-on project management experience working with defined project
management methodologies esp. Agile Methodology.
⇗ Knowledge of web based systems architecture, service based architecture,
enterprise application architecture.
⇗ Hands-on experience with JSON, XML, XSLT mapping and usage of SOAP and
HTTP, REST and JMS and MQ protocols.
⇗ Experience in Architecture principles, System Integration, Technical
sizing, High availability aspects, Integration and deployment best practices
⇗ Working knowledge of API security authentication, authorization, encryption
of inflight messages.
⇗ Experience with J2EE servers, Messaging, WS, SOA and API management
technologies and standards
⇗ Experience in performance planning, execution of performance tests using
formal approaches and tuning the services for optimal performance.
⇗ Good working experience with all the tiers of architecture and
infrastructure, database, integration, application, UI, network and security.
