Seed for Seeds S4S Uganda Ltd is a legally registered company limited by
guarantee. S4S U Ltd operates as a not-for-profit enterprise to produce and
market basic seed on a cost recovery basis since this seed class is marginally
profitable. The goal of S4S U Ltd is to increase food security of farmers
through availing sufficient quantities of quality basic seed to guarantee
availability of certified and Duality Declared Seed QDS of major food crops.
Job Summary ⇒ The Accounts Assistant will mainly provide financial,
administrative and logistical support to the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Receiving cash or banker's cheques}, recording financial transactions,
counting money to verify amounts and issuing receipts for funds received.
⇗ Ensuring that all funds received are promptly banked in accordance with
accounting procedures.
⇗ Following up approved payment requests for timely processing.
⇗ Compiling, sorting and checking payment instructions to ensure calculations
are correct and supported by relevant accounting documents before posting tor
processing.
⇗ Writing vouchers and cheques in order to make payments against specified
expenditure requisitions and verified accounting documents.
⇗ Preparing the payroll and ensuring that all statutory deductions are
effected and filed with the relevant Government agency.
⇗ Reconciling the cashbook with bank statements and checking balances against
verifiable documents on a monthly basis.
⇗ Posting data in the accounting system and producing management reports.
⇗ Following up advances taken and reviewing accountabilities submitted,
ensuring authenticity, accuracy, timeliness and completeness.
⇗ Monitoring cash flows, and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual revenue
and expenditure returns, financial statements and reports.
⇗ Maintaining proper filing system for accounts documents, including
vouchers, receipt books and fixed assets register.
⇗ Liaising with internal and external auditors to perform annual financial
audits of the company.
⇗ Filing of monthly, provisional and annual company tax returns.
⇗ Verify items that are received in stores to ascertain the movable and
immovable assets of the company.
⇗ Performing any other duties assigned to you from time to time by
management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration and management, Commerce, Accounting, Finance or any other
business-related university degree but must have specialized in accounting.
⇗ Professional qualifications CPA, ABBA etc. and/or Diploma in relevant
field with over two years of proven experience in a similar position with a
reputable company or organisation.
⇗ Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
⇗ Computer literate, excellent in MS Excel and MS Word.
⇗ Ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team, excellent interpersonal
skills and attentive to detail.
⇗ Age ⇒ 25 to 45 years
