Food for the Hungry FH is a Christian international relief and development organization with a vision to end all forms of poverty. FH globally currently has programs in 26 countries and support offices in the UK, Canada, Switzerland, South Korea, United States of America and Japan. FH that has been working in Uganda since 1989, with its head office in Kampala and operations in the districts of; Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health & Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction with the Head office located in Kampala.
 
Job Summary The Livelihood and Resilience Specialist is a full member of the Business Development Team. S/he will oversee the development of a strategic resilience-building initiative in Uganda. Under the supervision of the Business Development Manager, the L&R Specialist will be responsible for Contextualizing and aligning the Livelihoods and Resilience strategies to the required FH and Government standard, resource development, program design, representation, monitoring, and training the staff for the appropriate implementation of the sectoral strategies and modules. The and Livelihoods and resilience Specialist will identify specific growth opportunities for resilient programs and support the realization of the FH 2021 strategic priority. And integration of resilience in key sectors and will cross-cutting thematic areas, such as agricultural systems, rural livelihoods, and economic recovery for refugees including digital Cash Transfer . Goo interventions; nutrition and food security; natural resource management and climate change adaptation; peace building; and gender and social inclusion.

Note Percentages are approximate and other duties may be assigned.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal applicant must hold a Master’s degree in Agriculture, International Development, Rural Development, Business Administration, Economics, Management, Humanitarian Response. A post-graduate diploma in Project Planning and Management is an added advantage.
Minimum of eight8years of relevant work experience in Livelihoods and Resilience including cash transfers, climate change adaptation, and market interventions. Additional experience in early recovery and/or emergency programming with refugees and host communities and digital technology is a plus.
Thorough understanding of resilience thinking and systems approaches required. Demonstrated experience with the application of a resilience ness approach within the humanitarian-development nexus preferred.
Demonstrated experience in leading and/or facilitating complex multi-sec

Proven leadership and strategic planning capabilities with demonstrated budget management ability.

Knowledge of all regulatory, contractual, legal, and financial compliance 021 requirements associated with international donor funding. and Willingness to travel to the field and occasionally at field sites with rustic conditions and various levels of privation.
Good Office Suite skills and experience with ICT-based livelihoods solutions a plus
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers’ clients, customers, and the general public.
Designs the monitoring and evaluation tools considering the requirements and criteria for each sector and project.
