On 1 January 2019, the Center for International Forestry Research CIFOR and World Agroforestry ICRAF, two of the world’s leading organizations focused on forestry and agroforestry, merged in order to provide the evidence and innovative solutions needed to scale up investment in sustainable development and address the global challenges of our time.
 
Overview
The IKI Trees on Farms TonF project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety under the International Climate Initiative IKI. The project is active in Indonesia, Uganda, Rwanda, Peru and Honduras. The project uses various approaches to improve the knowledge of TonF. By integrating indigenous and local knowledge, the project provides relevant stakeholders with context­specific, tree-based measures that can contribute to biodiversity conservation, the avoidance of emissions and adaptation to climate change impacts. The project is also supporting the integration of sustainable management and agricultural biodiversity into the fields of policy and planning. IKI TonF website;treesonfarmsforbiodiversity.com
 
Job Summary  ICRAF is seeking to recruit a consultant as a technical agroforestry specialist to review TonF investment costs as well as Carbon sequestration systems in Uganda.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Review and contribute in refining the Investment Costs template for the Trees on Farm TonF targets with help from the Livelihoods Expert at HQ
Contribute to writing a report based on data collected from the financial flow survey report with help from Livelihoods Expert at HQ
Collect and review key information related to carbon sequestration potential of systems and species used in the Uganda carbon modelling of biodiversity scenarios

Report on carbon sequestration potential of agroforestry systems and species
 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The applicant must hold an MSc in Agroforestry, Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Environment, agricultural economics with five years’ experience or PhD in same fields with 2 years’ experience.
Skills investment analysis, communication, technical writing.
 
Terms and conditions
Each appointment will be for a period of 6 Months
The duty station will be in Uganda.
