Overview
The IKI Trees on Farms TonF project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety under the International Climate Initiative IKI. The project is active in Indonesia, Uganda, Rwanda, Peru and Honduras. The project uses various approaches to improve the knowledge of TonF. By integrating indigenous and local knowledge, the project provides relevant stakeholders with contextspecific, tree-based measures that can contribute to biodiversity conservation, the avoidance of emissions and adaptation to climate change impacts. The project is also supporting the integration of sustainable management and agricultural biodiversity into the fields of policy and planning. IKI TonF website;treesonfarmsforbiodiversity.com
Job Summary ICRAF is seeking to recruit a consultant as an Agroforestry Expert to support TonF stakeholder engagement with governmental and non-governmental agencies
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Report to both the IKI tree on farm coordinator as well as lead economist
Be the focal point of communication between ICRAF and key partners and government Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs to introduce the concept of Tree on Farm TonF targets and TonF specific financing mechanism and identify opportunities for integration of TonF targets into key Ugandan National strategies and policies related to restoration, green economy and biodiversity conservation
Review the IKI trees on Farms existing engagement strategy for Uganda and together with the Muni University and ICRAF Uganda adjust the strategy to both post 2020 and current COVID-19 situation.
Organize a series of stakeholder engagement workshops in close collaboration with the Muni University, ICRAF Uganda and the Ministry of Water and Environment to deliver a series of engagement events with key partners and governmental agencies
Key Deliverables
Adjusted engagement strategy for TonF Uganda
Lead the national consultation process of the TonF road map in Uganda
At least 5 workshop reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
MSc minimum in Agroforestry, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, Environment or Agriculture
Skills Policy analysis and review, facilitation high level, networking and negotiation, communication, technical writing.
Terms and conditions
Each appointment will be for a period of 6 Months
The duty station will be in Uganda.
