Consilient’s core services include program evaluations, impact assessments, third party monitoring, and situational analyses. Our multi-disciplinary team has worked across thematic sectors including education; emergency response and humanitarian aid; food security and agriculture; gender and social inclusion; governance, democratization, and justice; health; labor and markets; livelihoods and economic growth; media and information systems; resilience and disaster risk reduction; stabilization and peacebuilding; and conflict and security amongst others. Consilient also maintains full-time offices in Nairobi, Kenya; Sana’a, Yemen; Khartoum, Sudan; and Washington, DC, USA.
 
Job Summary   The Research Officer is responsible for the organization and conduct of key informant interviews and focus group discussions in Kampala, Western Region Nakivale Settlement or Northern Region Rhino Camp Settlement and Imvepi Settlement in Uganda.
Our ideal candidate is a strong team player who is passionate about delivering informed research products and wants to engage in the entirety of the research process. We are looking for people who are eager to learn and grow while taking on meaningful responsibility.
This is a short-time position for Ugandan citizens or researchers with permission to work in Uganda. The work in the settlements is dependent on the Covid-19 situation. The Research Officer reports to the Research Manager in charge of the program.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities 
Conceptualize And Design Methodologies To Address Key Research Questions;
Draft Quantitative And Qualitative Data Collection Tools For Projects Covering A Range Of Subject Matters;
Analyze Qualitative Data;
Lead Report Writing;
Communicate With Clients On Project Implementation And Timelines, As Necessary;
 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Graduate degree in relevant field with prior research experience Master’s degree preferred;
Strong background in research methodology and data analysis;
Experience collecting qualitative and quantitative data will be considered an asset;
Understanding of the refugee landscape in Uganda, incl. the work of UN agencies and international organizations in this field;
Experience collaborating with and managing diverse, multi-cultural teams preferred;
Eagerness to engage in research across a multitude of sectorial areas;
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
Ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines;
Prior experience living and working abroad, preferably in a developing country, is considered an asset;
Cultural sensitivity;
Fluency in written and spoken English;
Fluency in one of the local languages spoken in Uganda preferred.
