About the Organization

The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Uganda. It was opened on the 15th August 1966. It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government Department. Bank of Uganda conducts all its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary policy and maintaining price stability.

Job Summary

To manage and maintain the Bank’s business applications ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications to support the Bank’s IT operations effectively.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage application configurations to ensure optimal performance and security.
  • Continuously monitor application performance, identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to resolve problems.
  • Implement and maintain security measures for applications including access controls and data protection.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of application configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely and effective support and maintenance.
  • Ensure application operations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support for application-related issues and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems configurations, application configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Participate in the evaluation of IT-related procurements ensuring technical requirements are met.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader, Technical Support Services from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • A First or Second Upper-Class degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Engineering.
  • Professional certifications in IT Service Management (ITIL), CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

Work Experience

  • At least five (5) years of relevant working experience in applications and systems administration.

Age

30.0 – 38.0 years of age as at close of the advert.

  • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server Operating System administration.
  • Proficiency in applications configuration management and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of applications security principles and best practices. Experience in applications performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
