About UNMISS
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan UNMISS was set up in 2011, with the objective to consolidate peace and security, and help establish conditions for development in the Republic of South Sudan, with a view to strengthening the capacity of the Government of  South Sudan to govern effectively and democratically and establish good relations with its neighbours.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the Movement Control Assistant will carry out the following duties
Develops passenger and cargo load plans.
Ensures that dangerous goods are transported in accordance with the applicable international Dangerous Goods Regulations.
Manages and coordinates shipments including customs clearance, specifying carriers, routes of movement, transit times, service levels.
Facilitates contacts with local authorities responsible for travel-related, immigration and customs issues.
Assists with the planning and execution of military and police contingent movements.
Liaises and coordinates with military/police personnel for military and police contingent movements.
Drafts Movement Orders.
Collects movement information and defines requirements.
Coordinates non-scheduled mission flights.
Prepares operational reports and related statistical data.
Reviews and distributes manifests.
Maintains contact with other UN agencies, non-government and government organizations with regard to their travel requirements on Mission air assets.
Provides multi-modal movement control support to the Sector.
Plans, prioritizes, coordinates and monitors movement tasks and responsibilities in the Sector.
Allocates and delegates tasks as required to each Movcon element in the Sector.
Provides assistance to Travel, Procurement and Logistics Units/Sections.
Performs other related duties as required.
 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan UNMISS Movement Control Assistant career placement must hold a High school or equivalent diploma is required. Technical or vocational certificate in movement control, multi-modal transportation, airline operations, logistics management or a related field is desirable.
At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in movement control, freight forwarding, airline operations, logistics management or a related field is required.
Proven experience in SAP application Umoja and ERP, Supply Chain Management, Transportation Management Module, Business Administration and Customs Clearance is desirable.
Languages fluency in oral and written English is required.
