Job Summary

DHL Global Forwarding has an opening for Head of Airfreight in Kampala, Uganda. Manage, control and develop the Airfreight (AFR) business activities in the area in accordance with the group business strategy and local business environment to deliver maximum profit and optimize business assets and human resources. Key Responsibilities

Customers

• Identify and develop potential, sustainable customer relationships
• Respond to customer enquiries / complaints
• Lead in engagements and strategic customer interfaces with Key Account Contacts
• Provide leadership in the areas of product and business development, resource utilization, Country organization and activities
• Support and co-ordinate the development, implementation and localization of key initiatives and Programs

Stakeholders

• Carrier contract/relationship and performance management
• Interact with commercial team (at country level) in terms of pricing
• Defines, implements, monitors and enforces service and quality standards
• Responsible for EBIT result at country/country group level AFR

Process

• Defines, monitors and enforces targets to the operational units
• Analyses costs and cost structure of production on country/country group level
• Responsible for constant improvement and optimization of production means
• Defines and implements Airfreight ISO standards in line with corporate instructions

People Management

• Determine organization’s structure, roles and responsibility and performance targets
• Develop a culture of quality, service excellence, flexibility and cost consciousness
• Develop KPI’s with team members and monitor individual performance
• Identify training needs and opportunities to develop a highly skilled functional department

Qualifications & Skills

• In-depth knowledge in the logistics industry especially the Airfreight product both imports and exports
• Commercially astute with excellent business acumen
• Presentation, facilitation, and excellent training skills
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Outstanding negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
