Uganda Cooperative Alliance Limited UCA is the Apex Body for all
Cooperatives in Uganda formed in 1961 to be the mouthpiece for the
Cooperators.
About PREFCA Project
Uganda Cooperative Alliance ltd in partnership with Vi Agro forestry is
implementing a 5 year project 2018-2022 known as Project for Empowering
Farmers through Cooperative Agribusinesses PREFCA" which supports
strengthening of three unions and five area Cooperative Enterprises located in
8 Districts, Uganda.
Job Summary ⇒ The Field Officer Agribusiness will be tasked with building
the Capacities of Cooperatives' elected leaders and Management to enable them
deliver services to members.
Key Duties and Responsibilities ⇒
⇗ Guide Cooperatives to streamline their governance for effective delivery of
services to members.
⇗ Support Cooperatives to establish and use a sound management information
system.
⇗ Guide Cooperatives to establish their periodical organisational and
operating performance indicators and targets and guide them to ensure that
these are achieved.
⇗ Support Cooperatives to develop business linkages with other Cooperatives,
produce buyers, input, machinery and equipment suppliers as well as financial
institutions including SACCOs in order to improve their businesses as well as
service delivery to their members.
⇗ Support Cooperatives to develop/ update and effectively use governance
tools and instruments like the board manual, HR manual, marketing manual,
financial manual, procurement/bulking manual, etc. in their day to day
operations,
⇗ Prepare up to date and timely periodic plans and reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience ⇒
⇗ The applicant must hold a Bachelor's degree in business management,
Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management or other relevant
field.
⇗ At least two years of working experience in Cooperatives or Cooperative
Development work or active Farmer Groups.
⇗ Experience in community development work including extension and
participatory approaches Knows key concepts in self-help member based
organizations.
⇗ Planning, budgeting and report writing skills.
⇗ Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
⇗ Reliable accurate and respects deadlines.
⇗ Good Communicator and active listener
⇗ Good knowledge of computer applications including Ms Word, Excel, power
point and internet usage.
⇗ Fluency in Luganda for Masaka and Luganda or Lugwere or Lugisu for Mbale is
a must
