Job Summary
The overall scope of work of the WASH Officer (Environment and Climate) is to contribute to the objective of UNICEF Uganda Country programme of strengthening the capacity of government, private sector, CBOs, NGOs, and young people to develop and accelerate the implementation of child-centered environment, climate and disaster risk reduction policies and actions. Under the supervision of the Chief WASH (Environment and Climate), the purpose of this position is to support the engagement of the country office in addressing environmental and climate related challenges in the social sectors that impact the lives of children and their caregivers. This will include developing appropriate technology and system strengthening measures for sustainable community services such as for schools, healthcare facilities, and water supply systems. This will demand evidence generation, planning and implementation of interventions, and the development of programmatic and policy guidance to address climate and environmental risks to children.

Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
- Education: An advanced university degree in Civil/Public Health Engineering, Environmental Studies/Management, or related field. (A university degree may be considered with relevant post-graduate courses).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in WASH-related programmes for developing countries. UN system experience is an asset.
- Language: Fluency in English.
Desirable Experience
- Country-level work in development, fragile settings, or humanitarian contexts.
- Environment and Climate Actions programming in developing countries.
