About the Role

To support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of mechanical and electromechanical (E&M) systems for the SGR Project under the supervision of the Senior Mechanical Engineer, ensuring compliance with Employer’s Requirements, Ugandan regulations, and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Employer’s oversight of mechanical and E&M installations, including depot, workshop, and building services systems.
  • Review contractor submittals design drawings, ITPs/WIRs, RAMS, and material data for completeness and compliance.
  • Conduct and witness inspections and tests (FAT/SAT/IST); verify measurements and compile acceptance evidence.
  • Track compliance with ITPs and RAMS; follow up on non-conformances and punch-list closure.
  • Maintain Interface Control Documents (ICD) and coordinate MEP interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Prepare periodic reports on progress, quality, risks, HSSE, and cost.
  • Support acquisition of permits and approvals, ESIA/RAP inputs, and liaison with relevant authorities.
  • Update CDE/BIM, CMMS, and asset registers; compile O&M manuals and hand-over documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university.
  • Registration with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) or demonstrable progress toward registration.
  • 2-5 years of experience in heavy-rail, metro, or large industrial E&M systems.
  • Experience in design review and site supervision under design-build/FIDIC contracts.
  • Knowledge of NFPA/BS/EN codes and Ugandan regulatory processes.
