Job Summary
The Milk Procurement and Extension Officer is responsible for ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality raw milk through direct engagement with farmers, cooperatives, and milk collection centres. This role supports the implementation of the “RUKO 100 FARMER MODEL,” aimed at building a reliable network of 100 core suppliers. The officer will also use SAP to record milk deliveries, monitor quality, and generate procurement reports. The position demands strong field presence, technical extension support, and data-driven decision-making to optimize procurement operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Milk Procurement & SAP Recording
- Coordinate daily milk collection from designated zones and ensure timely delivery to the factory.
- Accurately record milk volumes, supplier details, and quality metrics in SAP.
- Monitor milk supply trends and flag inconsistencies or quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and safety standards during milk handling and transport.
Farmer Engagement & Training
- Identify, onboard, and support 100 core farmers under the RUKO model.
- Conduct regular field visits to provide training on animal husbandry, feeding, and milk hygiene.
- Promote adoption of modern dairy practices and sustainable farming techniques.
- Organize farmer sensitization workshops and feedback sessions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Support milk testing at collection centers and ensure adherence to quality protocols.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address adulteration or spoilage incidents.
- Maintain traceability of milk sources through SAP and field documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Data Management & GIS Integration
- Use SAP and mobile tools to capture procurement data and generate reports.
- Support GIS mapping of supplier zones to optimize milk flow and logistics.
- Analyze procurement data to inform supply chain decisions and farmer support strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with farmer groups, local leaders, and government extension officers.
- Facilitate access to veterinary services, financial support, and training resources.
- Resolve supplier grievances and maintain strong relationships with milk producers.
- Represent Ruko Establishments in community dairy development initiatives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Diploma or bachelor’s in animal science, Agriculture, or related field
- 2–4 years in dairy extension, procurement, or field operations
- Knowledge of milk quality standards, dairy farming, and SAP systems
- Strong interpersonal, training, and reporting abilities
- Proficiency in SAP, mobile data tools, GPS, and Microsoft Office Suite
