Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures the timely delivery of quality raw materials at the lowest possible cost
- Follows up on production weekly plans and clearance within the planned schedule
- Participates in the selection of suppliers based on a criterion
- Conducts a comparative analysis on supplier prices
- Reviews and evaluates the performance of the suppliers
- Processes clearance documents, import permits, tax exemptions and licenses
- Liaises with clearing agents and internal declarants
- Reviews tax worksheets prior to lodging of entries
- Performs marine insurance declarations
- Verifies orders are within approved budgets/contracts
- Submits invoices to Finance and follows up on payments
- Coordinates inbound/outbound shipments with stakeholders
- Monitors bonded warehouse operations and inventory
- Posts stock, vendor shipment data, and costs in SAP
- Analyzes logistics data and prepares management reports
- Tracks order fulfillment and resolves discrepancies
- Performs other management-assigned tasks
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar busy environment
- East Africa Customs and Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (EACFFPC) is an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- SAP experience and knowledge
- ASYCUDA++ hands-on experience
- Knowledge of EACCMA 2004 and EAC Common External Tariff 2022
- Excellent communication skills for internal/external coordination
- Ability to work under pressure with positive attitude
- Self-driven with ability to complete assignments independently
